Continuing Professional Development and Renewal of Registration

In order to stay abreast of developments in the field of Geo-information Science registered candidates are required to follow a programme of continuing professional development (CPD).

In terms of the Geomatics Profession Act 19 of 2013 the SA Geomatics Council is required to

make rules which determine

  • the conditions relating to continuing professional development;
  • the nature and extent of  continuing professional development to be undertaken by persons registered in terms of the Act;
  • the criteria for the recognition of continuing professional development and of service providers offering such activities;
  • the recognition of professionals who offer opportunities for practical training towards the development of graduates and potential graduates;
